I started writing this post on the fourth…. that’s how my December has gone.
With these posts, I want to just share what I would normally share on social media (and may still be sharing on Instagram for now). I really really detest social media for its censorship, and toxicity to real human relationships. Unfortunately, when you run a business, its necessary to at least exist on Facebook and Instagram to some extent.
December started with a quick trip out to Tacoma, WA. I flew out of Green Bay on the 7th, my first time flying all by myself. It actually was surprisingly fun to pretend for a while that I was a traveling business woman- something that I dreamed of in a previous life. It was a little lonely though, and I did miss having a hand to hold during the turbulence in the sky. I quickly realized that God had the right idea when he moved me to a profession where I would have both feet on the ground, in the manure, most of the time.
My daughter, Faith, and her husband, Jared, picked me up at the Seattle/Tacoma airport. The reason I flew out there was to help Faith move back home to spend a year while Jared is stationed in Korea (he’s in the Army). We spent three days there packing and cleaning their on-base house before departing on the evening of the 10th to start our 2000 mile journey home.
The journey was long, and started out pretty treacherous! We had planned to leave Saturday morning, but ended up leaving Friday evening due to the forecasted rain, wind and snow in the Pacific Northwest. Rather than heading straight east, towards home, we first traveled south to Portland to avoid the snow-plugged mountain passes. We had purchased tire chains but had no intention of taking a route that would likely require them.
Once we got just north of Portland, we headed east across Oregon and into south Idaho. I’m sure the hills we went through were beautiful, but it was pitch black and 40 mph winds that evening and we just wanted to get to the hotel in Idaho Falls.
I won’t bore you with every detail of our trip home, suffice it to say, we went through wind, rain, a little snow, a dust storm and 60+ mph wind across Montana and North Dakota. Here are some pictures I took along the way-
We arrived home on Monday the 13th and started preparing for our two new cows to arrive! Forget that we hadn’t even put up one Christmas decoration. Kandy and Kupcake arrived on December 17th, and fit right in! They are so sweet and are as gentle as can be. They are so nice, in fact, we are going to get one more from the farm they came from before they are done milking cows forever. It sure is a sad state for small dairies all over the US, but things change and there is no stopping it. We are fortunate that herd shares are allowed in Michigan and we are able to live our dream of dairy farming.
As soon as we got the girls settled in I went into full-on Christmas mode! This year we kept it mostly-local. I really enjoyed perusing downtown Escanaba and visiting small, local shops. Most of the time, you are dealing directly with the owner and you can sure sense the pride they have in their businesses!
If you are ever near Escanaba, please check out our down town area- Sayklly’s Confectionary & Gifts, Canterbury Book Store, Yooper Designz, North Coast Apparel, Mel’s Lawn and Garden, and Beaten Path to name a few.
Those of you who have kids that are out on their own, know how wonderful it is to have everyone at home for the holidays. Here they all are Christmas morning, with Bo of course 🙂
And that’s it for now! These Un-Social posts will come in a bit more frequently than our regular blog posts, and will be more brief as I get them out more often than I did this month. Things will calm down in the new year right?
Speaking of new year- we hope you have a happy and safe New Year 2022!
We’ll see you ‘next year.’ ?
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Love this Teri….thank you for sharing. Don’t know how you do all you do…very proud of you.
Busy busy busy! ?
I love your blog and wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year. Christmas with my family was bittersweet. My son-in-law in Virginia had some very serious health issues that involved surgery and most probably a long recovery road. But God is good and we continue to trust in Him. On the positive side, my oldest daughter surprised me by flying home to spend Christmas with us. The doctors told her to go ahead with her preplanned trip, that there wasn’t anything she could do right now for her husband as he spent of his days sleeping. God is good, all the time. I continue to pray for healing and strength for my son-in-law and my daughter. Having my daughter home with me as been the greatest gift The Lord ccould’ve blessed me with.
I will pray for healing for your son-in-law, and I am so glad your daughter was able to visit too! ❤ I now know the feeling when they are away and then able to come home for a while. Such precious time. I hope you have a blessed New Year!
