My dream used to be to live in a little cabin on a river in the hardwoods. Back in 2000, when we bought our starter home, that was our five year plan. We didn’t quite make it to five years tho, when our farm came up for sale.

My father in law pitched the idea to us, he would buy most of the farmland to add to his farm, and we would buy the house with 40 acres. It wasn’t really what I had in mind, but I could have horses, so we decided to go for it.

God always knows what we need better than we do. I didn’t learn that by reading it in a book, although it’s definitely been written. I’ve learned it thru 45 years of personal experience. Even when I was lost, wandering, and being the sinful human that I am, he was guiding my path.

I could give many examples of His providence, but today I’m just going to tell you about my thankfulness for the unobstructed view of the sunrise a wide open field provides. The self-sufficient life that 40 acres in the country allows. The fertile grasses on the 40 acres that have nourished livestock for generations, that in turn nourish the farmer caring for them. A wide open yard perfect for evening baseball games.

Andy and I are right where we are meant to be, stewarding for the Lord- land, family, and livestock; nourishing ourselves (and our members) with the best A2A2 dairy, grass-fed bison, and pasture raised beef and eggs possible.

This last Wednesday, we celebrated 25 years of marriage and have been working together on our own farm for almost 20 of them!

From pigs and beef cows, to American Bison and our beautiful Brown Swiss dairy cows, we’ve enjoyed the journey thoroughly. Chickens, sheep, horses, dogs & cats peppered in of course…😅

We’re glad you all have decided to follow along and we have no intention of slowing down, so stay tuned! If you don’t, you’ll miss the goats…

This last Wednesday, we celebrated 25 years of marriage and have been working together on our own farm for almost 20 of them!

From pigs and beef cows, to American Bison and our beautiful Brown Swiss dairy cows, we’ve enjoyed the journey thoroughly. Chickens, sheep, horses, dogs & cats peppered in of course…😅

These little orange tags are like Fitbit for our cows! They give us valuable information like if the cow is in heat, how much they’re eating, resting, and their temperature.

It takes all the guesswork out of keeping the herd healthy and managing their breeding schedule. We love @cowmanagers
